Cool Cultured Cuisine | Kombucha

I can’t remember when I first tried Kombucha, but I love it and drink it regularly. Touted for its medicinal and health benefits, Kombucha is a fizzy, fermented beverage made from tea. It’s packed with probiotics and antioxidantsthat support digestion and a healthy immune system.

These health benefits alone were enough to get me to try it, but I personally love this stuff because it  quickly satisfies my hunger and gives me a natural energy boost.  It’s also a healthy, low-calorie drink that’s easy to consume on the go - a huge plus for me as a mompreneur.   And if you’re working on getting and/or maintaining your awesome beach body, this libation won’t add empty calories OR unwanted pounds!

It’s a great pre-yoga, running or other workout drink, because it allows you to get a much need jolt while avoiding eating prior to exercising.  So all you Peachtree Road Racers, like Om Point Yoga’s own Shavonna, consider adding Kombucha to your pre-marathon regimen. I suspect you’ll be pleased with how it enhances your race performance and experience.

Depending on your body’s constitution and resulting taste preferences, you may find Kombucha delightfully tangy, like my 5-year-old daughter who can’t seem to get enough of it, or repulsively pungent, like my sensitive-nosed yoga student Jewels. For some, it’s an acquired taste, but whatever your preference if you’re willing to give it a try, you’ll find a considerable variety of brands and flavors currently on the market. G.T.’s Raw Organic Kombuchadrinks are my personal favorite

What about you? Have you tried Kombucha? What’s your favorite? Why do you drink it?
